MONTREAL, Canada – Today, Air Transat unveils its winter 2016-17 flight program, which offers travellers 34 sun destinations from 22 Canadian cities, in addition to a robust offering of the most popular European destinations in the winter.
True to its position as Canada’s leading holiday travel airline, Air Transat meets the demands of its Canadian clients by adding 11 new routes to its flight schedule.
“This winter, Air Transat will offer more sun for everyone thanks to its wide array of South and European destinations and to its greater presence in various Canadian airports,” says Annick Guérard, President and General Manager of Transat Tours Canada. “The addition of small aircraft to our permanent fleet has given us the flexibility to better adapt our program to meet the needs of different markets.
In addition, we will continue our domestic flight program this winter, which will allow us to offer even more European destinations to travelers from Montreal and Toronto.”
Air Transat will increase its flights to Central America, a destination booming in popularity among Canadians. In the province of Quebec, two new routes will be added to the flight schedule – a flight to San Salvador (El Salvador) from Montreal and a flight to Roatan (Honduras) from Quebec City. For travellers from Toronto, flights to Managua (Nicaragua) and Cartagena (Colombia) will enrich a program that’s already highly diverse. Additional flights to San Jose from Montreal and Toronto will meet the increasing demand for Costa Rica. Air Transat will also increase the frequency of its flights to the French West Indies (Guadeloupe and Martinique) and Havana.
In Quebec, in addition to the two new routes to Central America, Air Transat will also introduce domestic flights between Bagotville and Montreal, and between Rouyn-Noranda and Montreal, offering travellers from Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean and Abitibi-Témiscamingue more opportunities to fly to Sun destinations. Indeed, thanks to these connecting flights, nine countries in the Caribbean and Central America will now be available to Rouyn-Noranda and Bagotville travelers.
In Ontario, new flights to Cayo Coco and Santa Clara, Cuba, will also be offered from Ottawa and Windsor, respectively.
In Fredericton, two new destinations in the Dominican Republic – Puerto Plata and Punta Cana – will be added to its flight schedule. And Florida will now welcome travellers from Halifax thanks to a new flight to Fort Lauderdale. Finally, in Western Canada, Los Cabos (Mexico) will now be accessible via Vancouver, as will Punta Cana via Victoria.
Europe year-round with Air Transat
More present than ever before in the transatlantic market, Air Transat increases its flights to London by now offering one flight a day to the British capital, all year long, from Toronto. A weekly flight to London, which will be bumped up to two flights a week as of December, is also scheduled from Vancouver.
Air Transat will continue to offer daily flights to Paris from Montreal, as well as weekly flights to the City of Lights from Quebec City, available as of February.
The Europe winter program will also include direct flights to Malaga (Costa del Sol), Spain, as well as Lisbon and Faro, Portugal, from Montreal and Toronto. These sunny destinations are very popular with Canadian travellers, especially since they combine relaxation with exploration and are perfect for both long and short stays.
Air Transat will continue its domestic flight program between Montreal and Toronto this winter, expanding its slate of transatlantic destinations available to travellers from these cities thanks to connecting flights. Thus, travellers from Toronto can fly to Paris (five times a week) and Malaga (once a week) via Montreal, and vacationers from Montreal can visit London (five times a week), Manchester (once a week), Glasgow (once a week), Porto (once a week) and Lisbon (once a week) by connecting through Toronto.
Lastly, as of April, flights to Rome and Barcelona will be available from Montreal and Toronto, mainly to meet the demands of the many vacationers eager to take a Mediterranean cruise this time of year.
