It’s a world premiere! Cruise boats partaking in the famous international Oyster Rally will throw down their moorings on Reunion Island from November 9 to 11. The Reunion Island Tourist Board (IRT) will successively welcome the 23 competitor boats so as to allow them to discover the delights on offer on Reunion Island.
As partner of the Oyster World Rally, IRT is seeking to improve the reputation and knowledge of Reunion Island. Through this event, the IRT is also seeking to promote the Island Maritime Port redevelopment project which will allow for yachts to moor.
For Reunion Island, this is an opportunity to position itself as a key pleasure-boating port with the creation of a new harbor for ocean yachts, as well as cruise boats. In the long-term, Reunion Island aims to become an essential and sustainable stopover for future editions of the Oyster World Rally.
During mooring of the competitors, planned for November 9-11, 2013, the IRT will welcome all 23 boats and crew from the USA, the UK, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, and even South Africa for a visit to the essential must-see sites on the island. An excursion will be organized to show the visitors Piton de la Fournaise, one of the most active volcanoes in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Through this event, the IRT is hoping to promote the assets of Reunion Island, as well as optimize the island’s international visibility and create a reputation as a must-visit stopover for sailors.
